On October 2, 2023, officers of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Region XI (DENR XI) headed by Regional Director Atty. Ma. Mercedes V. Dumagan visited LPU Davao and were warmly welcomed by VP Dr. FG Balingit Jr. and members of the management council.
During the visit, the delegation from DENR XI was presented with the 5-year Environmental Roadmap of LPU Davao which highlighted a comprehensive plan on the journey of LPU Davao towards its goal of becoming a truly green campus with a community of advocates for the mitigation of global warming, the preservation of natural resources, and living a lifestyle with the lowest possible carbon footprint.
The party of Atty. Dumagan also toured the LPU Davao campus showcasing its modern facilities and the collection of over 1,000 indigenous trees in its campus including its Arboretum.
Atty. Dumagan and Dr. Balingit also discussed possible areas of cooperation such as the conduct of seminars and public forum for the promotion of environmental awareness and nature conservancy advocacies.
During the visit, LPU Davao had an opportunity to showcase its campus and its commitment to transitioning into a nature-centric education institution, and to seek expert guidance from the DENR team to achieve this goal.
