On October 11, 2023, Ms. Danica Bendigo, manager of the Social Orientation and Community Involvement Office (SOCIO) of LPU Davao led a team of Lycean faculty and staff on a mission to conduct a community needs assessment (CNA) of a target village in collaboration with the EGIP Foundation Inc.
The EGIP Foundation team was headed by Ms. Celina van Dierendonck, Development and Communication Officer, and Mr. Joshua Donato, Project Coordinator. Elements of the PNP Baguio-PS 11 and PNP-RPSB Cluster V also joined the mission.

During the visit, the team explored reforestation sites and engaged with the Koontayan ‘To Obu Manuvu Eco-Cultural Adventure, a community-based tourism project situated in Mount Karilongan, Brgy. Carmen, Baguio District, Davao City, in partnership with the local tribe and the EGIP Foundation.

During this enriching experience, the SOCIO team of LPU Davao had the privilege of enjoying a traditional tribal meal and snacks thoughtfully prepared by the tribe, along with their signature native coffee. The occasion was made even more special with the presence of Mr. Alec van Dierendonck, the President of EGIPF, and the esteemed Tribal Chieftain of the Obu-Manuvu Tribe, Uwon Paulino Landim Sr., within the community.
In the spirit of collaboration, LPU Davao’s visit to the Koontayan ‘To Obu-Manuvu community was not just a journey into the heart of Davao’s rich culture and heritage but a promise of a brighter future, forged through partnership and shared experiences.
